Why do my carpets look dirty shortly after they've been cleaned? The answer is two fold: (1) Detergents and chemicals can't remove the fatty oils that hold soil together (natures glue) Fatty molecules also host bacteria.(darkened traffic lanes) In reality the carpets are still dirty. (2) Traditional steam cleaning will leave a soap residue in the carpet, chemical dry cleaning leaves oil or solvent based residues behind. Back to Top
Why do certain spots keep coming back? Most of what we call phantom stains or re-occurring stains are food or protein, sugar and lactaid (dairy) Detergents and chemicals can't breakdown these compounds. The best they can do is hide or cover them with their residue for a while.
Another type of stain comes from spot cleaners that cover the original stain and leaves a sticky residue that attracts more dirt. Back to Top
